You’ll be the key technology partner for our office-based team (~25 users), and a steady hand behind the systems that support our seasonal field deployments.   You’ll be responsible for: • Managing all IT policies, systems, hardware, software, and security across the head office while ensuring systems are secure, reliable, and easy to use for non-technical staff. • Establishing and maintaining IT risk management practices, including data protection, user access controls, and incident response preparedness. • Supporting the setup, rotation, and management of field communications equipment, including Starlink, satellite phones, and InReach devices. • Overseeing cloud-based platforms (e.g. Microsoft 365, SharePoint, SaaS finance, scheduling and payroll tools), ensuring their smooth integration and daily usability. • Leading the development of a fit-for-purpose technology roadmap that supports Matrix’s operational expansion and evolving field needs. • Coordinating backup schedules, data security practices, device and identity management, and user access permissions. • Implementing cost-effective IT solutions that scale with business growth which balance in-house management with support from third-party vendors where appropriate. • Designing and procuring remote surveillance setups (e.g. solar-powered monitoring systems) and coordinating Wi-Fi infrastructure kits for temporary remote camps. • Promoting cybersecurity awareness across the team through simple training and user-friendly guidelines that support safe technology use in both office and field environments. • Acting as a calm, responsive, and resourceful IT lead—supporting end users who may not have a technical background. Travel expectations are minimal: Estimated 10–20 days/year to attend relevant trade shows / conferences and to support more complex field-based tech installs (noting most installs can be managed remotely with on-the-ground support from field-based trades teams.) What You Bring to the Role Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline preferred—but equivalent experience in SMB IT leadership roles will be strongly considered. 6+ years of experience managing IT systems and infrastructure in small to mid-sized organizations. Hands-on experience with Microsoft 365, SharePoint, and desktop/networking environments.
