Kamloops Aboriginal Friendship Society (KAFS) was established in 1972 and is a non-profit organization with a status free open-door policy. KAFS is dedicated to empowering the Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal communities of Kamloops and surrounding areas. KAFS provides culturally appropriate programs and inclusive services that meet the needs of urban Indigenous people to become healthier, physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. THE OPPORTUNITY: Reporting to the Family Violence Prevention Manager, the Family Violence Prevention Case Worker is responsible for providing direct support, advocacy, and case management to individuals and families impacted by family violence. This role focuses on supporting boys and men affected by family violence, using culturally sensitive, trauma-informed approaches to help them achieve safety, stability, and well-being. The Case Worker will also work collaboratively with community resources and the family violence prevention team to develop and implement individualized safety plans and strategies for violence prevention and recovery. A DAY IN THE LIFE – ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide intake, assessment, and direct support services to clients affected by family violence. Develop and monitor individualized care plans focused on client safety, recovery, and empowerment. Conduct risk and safety assessments, facilitating access to emergency shelters, counselling, and other essential services. Act as an advocate for clients by connecting them with relevant services, including legal, medical, housing, and employment support.
