Social-Emotional Learning (Raise Self-motivated learners)

In my 7 years’ experience of tutoring kindergarten-grade 12 learners, I have noticed our children are becoming less and less self motivated towards learning in recent years. To help our young learners. In our social-emotional learning classes, students and I will analyze how a character changes emotionally and socially throughout a story, focusing on the development of emotional intelligence (EQ), including self-awareness, empathy, managing emotions, and making good choices. By reading and discussing great children's books with your children. We will ignite the inner engine in their hearts. What We Do in Class: Read together (close reading + discussion) Analyze how characters grow and change Reflect on personal emotions and connections Write thoughtful, clear responses to build comprehension & confidence Practice with Emotional Intelligence Workbook to deepen our learning Why It Matters: When learners see themselves in stories, they begin to understand their own hearts. When they learn to express emotions, they grow in every area of life — not just school. This is reading that makes a difference. Tutoring sessions are offered both in person and online. In person sessions are held at Calgary NW Macewan area. Online sessions are delivered through Zoom Video Conference which is an app you can use on any of your devices for free. In online Zoom class, both teacher and students can annotate on shared screen and whiteboard.
