Summary: As platform engineers, we are building a next-generation machine learning platform, which incorporates our secret sauce, UML (unsupervised machine learning) with other SML (supervised machine learning) algorithms. Our team works to improve our core detection algorithms and automate the full training process. As complex fraud attacks become more prevalent, it is more important than ever to detect fraudsters in real-time. The platform team is responsible for developing the architecture that makes real-time UML possible. We are looking for creative and eager engineers to help us expand our novel streaming and database systems, which enable our detection capabilities. What you'll do: Design and build machine learning systems that process data sets from the world’s largest consumer services Use unsupervised machine learning, supervised machine learning, and deep learning to detect fraudulent behavior and catch fraudsters Build and optimize systems, tools, and validation strategies to support new features Help design/build distributed real-time systems and features Use big data technologies (e.g. Spark, Hadoop, HBase, Cassandra) to build large scale machine learning pipelines Develop new systems on top of real-time streaming technologies (e.g. Kafka, Flink) Based in Raleigh,Durham or the town of Chapel Hill Requirements 0-3years software development experience 2 years experience in Java, Shell, Python development Excellent knowledge of Relational Databases, SQL and ORM technologies (JPA2, Hibernate) is a plus Experience in Cassandra, HBase, Flink, Spark or Kafka is a plus. Our focus is to incorporate the latest technological advances, such as IEC 61850, to provide the most cost-effective and efficient solutions to power system engineering. This focus allows us to be involved in a diverse range of projects from preliminary engineering through to the commissioning and startup. We are currently seeking a highly motivated Electrical/Substation Engineer to join our engineering team on a full time basis. We offer a dynamic work environment with an extremely experienced technical team, where you will be continuously challenged in all aspects of the engineering and design process. Responsibilities: Complete and authenticate outdoor substation design packages for ampacity diagram, layouts, plot plans, bus elevations, ground grid, equipment/structure grounding details, control & power cable layouts, control building electrical design, for voltage levels ranging from 25kV to 240kV. Interface with other engineering disciplines to ensure overall design conformance is accomplished. Complete calculations and studies to support the design, including grounding, lightning, lighting, AC/DC Load Studies, station service transformer and battery bank sizing, insulation coordination, and rigid bus study. Complete MV cable ampacity calculations with CYMCAP. Develop equipment and apparatus specifications suitable for project application. Review vendor documentation and drawings to ensure constructability, operability, and compliance with equipment specifications and design. Develop and maintain bill of materials for substation outdoor installation. Review engineered outputs to ensure compliance with project defined scopes and client requirements. Provide site construction and commissioning support when needed. Collect, interpret, and organize project engineering and vendor data. Interface with senior personnel to resolve potential technical and project issues. Provide mentoring guidance and direction to junior members of the team. Assist in compiling and maintaining internal engineering standards and work practices. Qualifications: The successful candidate should possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institute. Eligible for registration with the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta (APEGA). 6 - 10 years’ experience in electrical substation design. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and an extreme attention to detail are essential. Solid base knowledge of electrical theory and mathematics. Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage a wide variety of issues simultaneously. Strong analytical, risk assessment and problem solving skills. Working knowledge of relevant Canadian, Ontario and Alberta codes and standards (CEC, CSA, AEUC, OESC etc.) would be advantageous.
