Victor Energy is a powerline contractor with over 30 years experience building Alberta’s electrical infrastructure, recently acquired by Java Holdings Ltd. Java staff have over 50 years of experience building some of Canada’s largest electrical infrastructure projects. We are seeking experienced Journeyman / Journeywomen Powerline Technicians (PLT) with duel citizenship to support our Canadian and European projects. RESPONSIBILITIES: Erect and maintain steel, wood or concrete poles, towers, and guy wires Install, maintain, and repair overhead and underground power lines and cables, insulators, conductors, lightning arrestors, switches, transformers, street lighting and other associated equipment Splice, solder and insulate conductors and related wiring to connect power distribution and transmission networks Have knowledge and expertise in the areas of construction, maintenance, and repair of both distribution and transmission power systems, coupled with the ability to follow instructions and procedures Opens and closes switches and installs grounding devices to lines and equipment. Installing and detonating implodes. Energized Stick Work Experience Completing high-tension stringing activities Instruct, mentor and train junior personnel and Apprentices in duties, safe work practices, care and use of tools and equipment in a positive respectful manner Ability to read and understand the scope of construction prints provided. The ability to work at heights on wood poles, steel towers, etc. in adverse weather conditions. Requirements EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Valid Journeyman certificate for Powerline Technician, Provincial and Red Seal Class 5 driver’s license, preference of a class 1 with airbrake endorsement. 5 years’ experience 25Kv experience is an asset KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Strength, stamina, and the use of proper lifting techniques required to work with equipment weighing in excess of 50 lbs.
