THE OPPORTUNITY The Controller (6-Month Contract, with Possibility of Extension) plays a key role in overseeing the finance function for JY Care’s group of companies. Reporting directly to the CEO, this is a hands-on role that blends day-to-day accounting with financial leadership. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced finance professional with manufacturing or product-based experience who can roll up their sleeves and ensure accuracy in the details, while also advising the CEO on cash flow, margins, and decision-making. POSITION DESCRIPTION Reporting to the CEO, the Controller is responsible for: Financial Operations & Reporting Manage  month-end close and prepare consolidated financial statements. Maintain general ledger accuracy; reconcile accounts and oversee AP/AR processes. Monitor and analyze manufacturing costs, inventory valuation, and gross margins. Lead annual budgeting and periodic forecasting; track budget vs. actual performance Manage cash flow forecasting and working capital. Provide accurate and timely financial reporting and analysis to the CEO.  Compliance & Taxation Prepare and file corporate tax returns and GST/HST returns. Coordinate the year-end close process and collaborate with external accountants on SR&ED, review, and compilation engagements. Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and company policies.  Strategic Support & Process improvement Identify and evaluate government grants, incentives, and funding opportunities to support business initiatives. Recommend process improvements and strengthen internal controls.  Team Leadership Mentor, coach, and support junior staff. Promote a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement. Requirements CPA designation (or equivalent) required. 5+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, preferably in manufacturing or a multi-entity environment. Hands-on accounting skills: able to manage close, reconciliations, and reporting with limited support. Strong technical knowledge of ASPE, corporate tax, and GST/HST. Proven experience in budgeting, cash flow management, and financial reporting. Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with NetSuite. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work independently and present effectively to executives. Highly organized, detail-oriented, and adaptable in a fast-paced environment. Position Summary We are looking for an experienced Tax Manager to oversee tax compliance, planning, and reporting for both US and Canadian operations. This role requires a deep understanding of corporate tax laws, sales tax, and cross-border tax issues. You will play a key role in ensuring tax compliance, optimizing tax strategies, and managing audits.. Requirements Requirements Tax Compliance & Reporting Oversee corporate tax compliance for both US and Canada, including federal, state/provincial, and local tax filings. Ensure accurate and timely filing of corporate income tax, sales tax (GST/HST/PST/VAT), and other indirect taxes. Manage quarterly and annual tax provision calculations under US GAAP and IFRS. Ensure compliance with transfer pricing regulations and prepare required documentation. Tax Planning & Strategy Develop and implement tax-efficient strategies to optimize corporate tax position. Identify and mitigate cross-border tax risks, including permanent establishment concerns. Advise on tax implications of business operations, M&A transactions, and expansions. Monitor tax law changes in the US and Canada, assessing potential business impact. Audit & Risk Management Lead tax audits and inquiries from US and Canadian tax authorities. Maintain strong internal controls over tax compliance and reporting. Collaborate with legal, accounting, and finance teams to manage tax risks. Collaboration & Advisory Provide guidance to internal teams on tax matters, including payroll tax, sales tax, and international tax considerations. Work closely with external tax advisors and auditors to ensure compliance and best practices. Support the implementation of tax technology solutions to streamline processes. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field. CPA designation (US or Canada) is required. 8+ years of tax experience in US and Canadian corporate taxation. Strong knowledge of US GAAP tax reporting requirements. Experience with transfer pricing, cross-border taxation, and indirect taxes. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills. Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex tax issues to non-tax stakeholders. Benefits Comprehensive benefit package Salary range $120,000 to $140,000 CAD
