Edith Marguerite Oedelshoff was married for almost 60 years to Bishop’s University professor of Modern Languages (1938–77) Eric Herbert Yarrill (1914–2005), a lieutenant with the Royal Canadian Navy who served in naval intelligence during the Second World War, while Edith worked with spymaster Sir William Stevenson (code name “Intrepid”), one of the inspirations for Ian Fleming’s character James Bond.
