We are currently seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Project Manager to join our Transmission group supporting a major Transmission Line project in Northwestern Ontario. Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, this position will support the construction of 190km of a new double-circuit 230 kilovolt transmission line and 170km of a new single-circuit 230 kilovolt transmission line between Shuniah, Atikokan and Dryden, ON to help meet the current and future energy needs of northwest Ontario while protecting and preserving the environment. The position will focus on core project management office work (commercial tracking, budget, reporting, document management, work with in house engineering contractor and procurement) and systems, process and technical items and less focused on operations. This is a growth opportunity to take on a Project Manager position on our next project. Please note: this is a site based position in Northwestern Ontario working a 20 days-on / 8 days-off rotation. Travel from any major Canadian airport and site accommodations are provided. Project The Woodfibre LNG Project is located approximately 7 km west-southwest of Squamish, British Columbia. It involves the construction and operation of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) export facility on the previous Woodfibre pulp mill site, which will have a storage capacity of 250,000 m3 and will produce approximately 2.1 million tons per year of LNG. Woodfibre Management Ltd. is a privately held Canadian company based in Vancouver and a subsidiary of Pacific Energy Corporation Limited. Position The Commissioning Manager is an integral part of Woodfibre LNG’s dynamic team. The Commissioning Manager will lead the management of all project commissioning activities in accordance with the overall Project critical path schedule and within the established commissioning and startup budget. Has the responsibility to allocate resources to ensure successful completion, commissioning, and testing activities to enable a safe, successful and on time start-up of the Woodfibre LNG Plant.   Key Responsibilities: The successful applicant will: Manage the process of construction completion turnover to startup and startup turnover to Company Operations. Manages priorities and activities of commissioning staff. Work closely with the Commissioning Manager of the EPC Contractor to ensure that systemization has been properly set up and that completion of construction dovetails into the Commissioning and Start-up Plans. Work closely with the Operations Manager to ensure timely recruitment and training of Plant Operations resources to be seconded into the Commissioning team. Ensure adequate Commissioning support contracts are in place. Ensure vendor training is executed during the commissioning phase of the plant. Sign off on pre-start up safety review certificates on behalf of the Project. Be responsible for signing off on exception lists (punch lists) on behalf of Company. Ensure adequate first fill of all required chemicals. Ensure adequate cleanliness and tightness of all equipment before introducing hydrocarbons. Be responsible for managing ‘Simultaneous Operations’ between Construction, Commissioning and Start-up teams. Be responsible for adequate Commissioning progress reporting to Project and Plant Management. Ensure all Commissioning performance test criteria are established, documented in procedures and adequately met in execution. Support the development of clear Commissioning and Start-up procedures. The Commissioning Manager is an active member of the Woodfibre LNG Project Management Team. Requirements Required Experience: 10+ years of plant operations and commissioning experience, including five years as commissioning manager. Bachelor’s in engineering preferred. LNG plant commissioning and startup experience preferred. Additional Requirements: Is able to work with large multi-disciplinary teams, contractors in a multicultural environment. Communication/interpersonal skills – to be able to interact with front line workers through to management and all hierarchical levels. Accepts responsibility and demonstrates commitment to delivery of tasks and targets.
