Your mission will be to help maintain or improve residents’ independence and quality of life within a long-term care setting. Main responsibilities: Assess residents’ functional abilities and their occupational therapy needs. Develop and implement individualized intervention plans in collaboration with the care team. Adapt the environment or recommend assistive devices to promote independence and safety. Provide rehabilitation and functional stimulation interventions. Participate in clinical committees and in the continuous improvement of practices within the CHSLD. Document follow-ups and interventions according to professional standards. Requirements: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in occupational therapy. Active membership in the Ordre des ergothérapeutes du Québec (OEQ). Experience in geriatrics, long-term care, or functional rehabilitation (a strong asset). Strong interpersonal, observational, and collaborative skills. Ability to work within an interdisciplinary team and adapt to a changing environment. We are willing to train the right individual regarding the care and support of Shayne Mills. We are also open to bringing a healthcare support worker or aide into this position. Shayne is a 55 year old man who is paraplegic and requires assistance with meal preparation, showering / hygiene, social engagement etc. The right person will be required to familiarize themselves with electric lifts and medication / health supplement distribution. Shayne sleeps 12 hours per night and does not require night time support. Shayne is able to operate / manage his computer, cell phone, electric wheel chair and the consumption of meals as well as the use of a tooth brush. He is a delightful man who is a pleasure to work with. This position is a 24 hour sleep over position. There is a clean, private bedroom available and the position pays $314.00 / day. Shayne has a 2 bedroom townhouse in a quiet area near Royal Roads University. Shifts start at 4 pm. Easy bus access from Victoria city on the #95 which runs every 15 minutes.
