Duties of the baker position include: - 4am shift start time - Preparing and decorating baked goods such as scones, cookies, bliss specialty pastries, fried donuts, cakes etc - Preparing pastry creams, fruit compotes, glazes, etc - Preparing butter pastry, hand laminating dough - Preparing sourdough focaccia and other breads - Operation of range, deep fryer, standing mixer, small dough sheeter, proofing cabinet - Meeting strict deadlines for service each day / stocking and maintaining the pastry case daily - Managing prep schedule and assisting in recipe development - Assisting with training new staff Open position is Part Time, approx 15 hrs per week. Must be able to work Saturdays and Sundays. Hourly wage is $16-17/hr + tip share. Bliss Caffeine Bar is a tip share establishment, with a large portion of tips directed to our culinary team. On average, tip share adds an additional $5-$8 per hour to your pay. This position is eligible for health benefits after three months of employment. At least one year of experience necessary. Experience could include restaurant/commercial kitchen experience, completion of baking and pastry arts program. A personal portfolio of your work is also an asset.
