About the role: Financeit is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Manager, Accounting to play a pivotal role in our finance team. Reporting to the VP of Finance, you will be instrumental in overseeing the month end close process, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial records and managing key financial operations. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive leader with a strong understanding of accounting principles and consumer lending to make a significant impact. What you’ll do: Lead the timely and accurate financial close process, including review of supporting files and journal entries. Maintain a robust close calendar and ensure adherence to deadlines. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual internal financial statements, including variance analysis and insightful commentary. Ensure compliance with IFRS. Monitor financial performance against established KPIs and budgets. Participate in the development and implementation of new accounting policies and procedures. Oversee the company’s annual financial statement audit and other audit-related engagements. Manage key financial operations, including corporate banking and accounts payable. Serve as a key member of the vendor management committee, maintaining strong relationships with external service providers. Maintain and improve internal controls across the finance function. Own the accounting system and chart of accounts, while driving process enhancements, automation initiatives, and efficiency improvements across financial operations. Support or lead ad hoc financial projects and initiatives as required. Lead and mentor a team of accounting professionals, fostering collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA designation (mandatory). 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a people management role. Deep knowledge of IFRS; experience with IFRS 9 is an asset. Excellent analytical, problem solving and organizational skills. Proficiency with financial systems and ERP platforms. Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, SUMIF). Exceptional leadership and team management skills. Excellent communication and presentation abilities. Strategic thinker with a track record of driving financial performance and process improvements. Experience in the financial services or lending industry is a strong asset. Review audit findings, assess potential tax implications, and work to resolve discrepancies or issues raised by the CRA. Coordinate with tax professionals and external advisors to ensure compliance with CRA regulations and mitigate any potential risks. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in accounting or Finance/ CPA Candidate 3+ years of related job experience in corporate taxation, with a focus on T2 tax returns and compliance. Experience in Tax, tax auditing and with online tax research tools, materials. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with the aptitude to learn new software quickly. Previous experience with QuickBooks and Sage 300 will be an asset. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and deadlines. Advanced knowledge of MS Excel, MS Outlook. Ability to process large volume of invoices and payments, while prioritizing competing tasks.
