Hello I am alex a Canfitpro certified personal training specialist with over 20 years of experience in training I am offering one on one training sessions in a private studio gym located in Westboro (Richmond Road & Churchill area). My space is about 1000 sq. ft. and features more than 20 peaces of equipment for assisted use in addition to free weights. I am competitive bodybuilder who has won my natural pro card. I have also won the overall cpa/opa ottawa bodybuilding championships in 2017, along with winning other shows. I work with all body types and ages, of late I have started to work with a lot of older people helping them put on muscle as they age. I offer workout programs that we organize together. In addition to diets and supplement advice if needed. I am happy to work with anyone to help achieve any fitness goal needed. I also work on the mental part of being a mentor to those who struggle with diet keeping them motivated to stay on track, help them identify there relationship with food and what may be causing the bad choices. When training someone I ensure the following principles are applied. Keys to Training Optimally 1 Exercise Selection: Choose not only the traditional best movements but also the ones that work best for you. Ensure that you target different parts of each muscle by varying the movements. 2 Form: Perform each rep with control, using the proper range of motion, tempo, and mechanics. 3 Failing and Rep Ranges: Ensure that working sets have enough intensity to reach failure, preferably in the 8 to 12 rep range. Reps that are too high focus more on endurance, while reps that are too low don’t provide enough time under tension for optimal hypertrophy. 4 Progressive Overload: Ensure that your working sets in the 8 to 12 rep range are progressively increasing in reps or weight to continue progression and avoid plateaus. 5 Volume: Perform enough sets to stimulate growth. Two top sets per movement are sufficient. Beginners, who can't generate enough intensity, require more volume to provide adequate stimulus. Starting, maintaining, and excelling at an exercise program requires a strong commitment and unwavering consistency. These two elements are crucial for achieving long-term success and reaching your fitness goals. Commitment involves setting clear objectives, staying motivated, and being dedicated to your training regimen. Consistency means showing up regularly, following your program diligently, and making exercise a non-negotiable part of your routine. Together, they create the foundation for progress and improvement. Accountability also plays a vital role in your fitness journey. It helps to recognize and identify who you are doing the exercise for—whether it’s for your personal health, parents, children, or yourself. Having someone to "help you help yourself" by keeping you on track or encouraging you can significantly minimize the chances of abandoning your exercise program. This support system can be a workout partner, coach, or a supportive friend who shares your fitness goals.
