The ideal candidate will have a passion for patient care and the ability to work in a hospital environment. Mission: Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in a hospital setting. Assess patients' medical and emotional needs. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans. Use the Epic system to document care and monitor patient progress. Ensure effective communication with families regarding patient health status and needs. Participate in case management to ensure continuity of care. Train and supervise auxiliary staff when necessary. Requirements: DEC in Nursing and a valid practice license. Recent and relevant emergency department experience. Training in the Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale (CTAS). Training in cardiac rhythm interpretation, with solid knowledge of arrhythmias such as second- and third-degree atrioventricular (AV) block, atrial fibrillation (AF), ventricular tachycardia (VT), etc., for intensive care. Excellent interpersonal communication skills and ability to work in a team. Ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining a high standard of patient care. We are willing to train the right individual regarding the care and support of Shayne Mills. We are also open to bringing a healthcare support worker or aide into this position. Shayne is a 55 year old man who is paraplegic and requires assistance with meal preparation, showering / hygiene, social engagement etc. The right person will be required to familiarize themselves with electric lifts and medication / health supplement distribution. Shayne sleeps 12 hours per night and does not require night time support. Shayne is able to operate / manage his computer, cell phone, electric wheel chair and the consumption of meals as well as the use of a tooth brush. He is a delightful man who is a pleasure to work with. This position is a 24 hour sleep over position. There is a clean, private bedroom available and the position pays $314.00 / day. Shayne has a 2 bedroom townhouse in a quiet area near Royal Roads University. Shifts start at 4 pm. Easy bus access from Victoria city on the #95 which runs every 15 minutes.
