The ideal candidate will have a passion for patient care and the ability to work in a hospital environment. This position requires strong attention to detail and the ability to manage complex situations with competence and compassion. Mission: Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in a hospital setting. Assess patients' medical and emotional needs. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans. Use the Epic system to document care and monitor patient progress. Ensure effective communication with families regarding patients' health status and needs. Participate in case management to ensure continuity of care. Train and supervise auxiliary staff when necessary. Requirements: DEC in Nursing and a valid license to practice. Minimum of one year of hospital or medical setting experience is strongly preferred. Cardiac arrhythmia course: 45-hour program (ability to analyze/interpret cardiac rhythms). Minimum of 3 years of experience in emergency and resuscitation room settings. Recent emergency experience (within the last year). Emergency experience accumulated in small hospitals (fewer than 10 observation beds) will not be considered sufficient. Minimum of 1 year of triage experience with official triage training (CTAS). Ability to speak and understand English (must be proficient). DSQ key, ACLS and ATLS certifications are assets. Excellent interpersonal communication skills and ability to work as part of a team. Ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining a high standard of patient care. We are willing to train the right individual regarding the care and support of Shayne Mills. We are also open to bringing a healthcare support worker or aide into this position. Shayne is a 55 year old man who is paraplegic and requires assistance with meal preparation, showering / hygiene, social engagement etc. The right person will be required to familiarize themselves with electric lifts and medication / health supplement distribution. Shayne sleeps 12 hours per night and does not require night time support. Shayne is able to operate / manage his computer, cell phone, electric wheel chair and the consumption of meals as well as the use of a tooth brush. He is a delightful man who is a pleasure to work with. This position is a 24 hour sleep over position. There is a clean, private bedroom available and the position pays $314.00 / day. Shayne has a 2 bedroom townhouse in a quiet area near Royal Roads University. Shifts start at 4 pm. Easy bus access from Victoria city on the #95 which runs every 15 minutes.
