We are looking for a thoughtful and energetic leader to join our Vancouver office.   About Advanced Performance Analysis at Entuitive  We believe that we can be a key player in society’s collective fight to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. Central to this is the core principle that the analysis of building performance is no longer exclusively for niche projects but can add value to any design process. Our Advanced Performance Analysis team, part of our Sustainability + Performance group, uses software, analysis, and engineering to optimize energy and carbon in the built environment.  We examine issues that impact a building’s performance starting at the early stages of design to identify ways to reduce a project’s environmental impact that extends far beyond simply documenting compliance with a local energy code.  We are analysts, engineers, and curious minds focus on solutions that enhance a building’s energy performance and indoor environmental quality. Our ambition is nothing short of bringing pragmatic net-zero design solutions to the masses. We are equally comfortable providing the early-stage passive design analysis necessary to achieve the highest performing designs as well as the necessary compliance documentation to ensure that projects get constructed. In a nutshell, our service offering includes:  Hourly and annual energy modeling  Renewable energy modeling   Parametric optimization   Solar gain analysis and glare avoidance  Passive design feasibility  Thermal comfort evaluation  Compliance energy modelling for local codes, standards, and performance standards like LEED, Passive Haus, Zero Carbon Building Standard, etc.  Decarbonization analysis for existing buildings  What will you do?  Act as the Team Lead for local energy modelers. This includes:  Leadership to support an energetic and technically skilled team of professionals  Provide technical leadership in building performance and energy modeling, including mentoring staff and providing QA/QC reviews  Act as a resource for local codes and standards  Business development, including proposal preparation, meeting clients, preparing and giving presentations, and Acting as the ‘doorstep’ of the service in Vancouver/Western Canada for clients and industry  Project delivery, including managing project budgets and scope  Resourcing of staff to projects, in cooperation with other senior staff  Collaboration with our shared services teams, including proposal team, People + Culture, finance + accounting, Marketing + Communications, etc.   Cultivate relevant relationships in industry  Develop performance simulations to guide the design of high-performance buildings and deep energy retrofits. This will include not only traditional energy modelling but also daylight and glare analyses, thermal comfort evaluations and passive design studies  Maintain the highest standards of technical excellence in the delivery of said simulation services  Develop internal scripts, tools, and workflows to enhance the quality and efficiency of delivering building simulations  Produce enticing graphical representations of complex simulation data to enhance client facing deliverables  Prepare energy modelling reports to fulfil the requirements of building code, incentive programs and third-party certifications such as LEED and the Zero Carbon Building Standard  Research trends and technologies associated with the design and operation of high-performance buildings to keep us at the cutting edge of project delivery  Work with clients to confirm their performance needs and expectations throughout the design process  Draft technical papers and prepare presentations to aid in the growth of a stronger and broader client base.  Assist in the development of fee proposals for the delivery of performance analysis services  Requirements What do you need to succeed?  A belief that the design and retrofit of buildings is a central element in society’s efforts to mitigate the worst impacts of climate change  An entrepreneurial spirit and a keen desire to advance building simulation services at Entuitive from the ground up  8+ years of experience delivering building performance analysis in support of high-performance building design.   Thorough knowledge of relevant codes and standards such as VBBL, BC Energy Step Code, NECB, ASHRAE 90.1, LEED, and Zero Carbon Building Standard  The ability to work independently and utilize creative solutions in the problem solving process  Understanding of the principles of building science and HVAC systems and best practice approaches to their simulation  Firm grasp of building science principals and thermodynamic fundamentals, including thermal bridging, moisture management, and fluid dynamics  Mastery of data management and representation via Excel  P.Eng. designation an asset.  BEMP, CEM, BESA, CPHC/D, LEED credentials all considered assets  Familiarity with BC Hydro Alliance considered an asset   Working knowledge of any of the following will be considered an asset: Pollination, Sefaira, Cove Tool, Ladybug, Honeybee, Grasshopper, Python, Sketchup, Rhino, Revit, AutoCAD, PHPP, RETScreen, GLD, Radiance  Experience with energy auditing and retrofit analysis for existing buildings will be considered an asset  Registration as a certified energy auditor or certified energy manager would be considered an asset  Benefits Why Entuitive?  Certified B Corp, carbon neutral organization, signatory on many socially important initiatives including SE2050 and Partnership Accreditation in Indigenous Relations (PAIR)  Flexible working hours, 37.5 hour work week.  3 days a week in office. Reporting to the Assistant Manager – Grounds & Conversion, the Planner is responsible for creation and assignment of an efficient & effective work assignment plan and assist with the schedule for the Grounds and Conversion team.  Utilizing a variety of planning tools, forecasts, event schedules, facility knowledge, and technical expertise, the Planner is planning weeks in advance, preparing resource plans and designing sequenced work activities for the entire REAL campus. The Planner is an effective resource as the creator, administrator, and owner of work breakdown structures and sequenced work assignments designed for site set up, preparation, and organization, and tear down of REAL mobile & rentable assets leading into and out of every campus event. WHAT YOU WILL DO 1. As a member of REAL’s Site & Facilities team, the Planner collaborates with management in developing and is responsible for execution of a rolling annual groundskeeping Work Planning System. This work plan outlines, quantities, and organizes the job assignments, and resource requirements for all seasonal grounds keeping functions.  This includes, (but not limited to):  Snow clearing, removal, and handling, including roadways, parking areas, and walk way entry & exits. Distributing sand on recurring basis for the purpose of mitigating seasonal slip hazards on site, (ie. snow/ice) Spring/seasonal parking lot & road way sweeping and debris pick up. Accumulated yard debris pick up Confederation Park and other green space landscaping & general lawn/tree/shrub upkeep. Distribution & handling of campus signage, barricades, parking embankments, etc.   2. The Planner provides guidance & organization to the day-to-day Grounds and Conversion staff by: Providing sequenced work instruction for all aspects of all activities programming, entertainment & sporting events. Directs workers as required in support of business unit management. Plans and reviews overall status of project(s) on an ongoing basis. In collaboration with Purchasing/Procurement, orders tools and materials to be delivered at specific times, confirming to necessary work schedules to meet project timelines. Ensure all assets that are the responsibility of the Grounds and Conversion business unit are kept in proper storage and organization, in appropriate condition/state of repair. Communicates with management and event supervisors as required to ensure seamless event mobilization/operation/de-mobilization. Ensure management, and other stakeholders are promptly provided any relevant documentation from either client, event planning, or authorities relative to event set up. Identify, quantifies, and co-ordinate resources to support day-to-day event requirements from an operational support perspective.   3. The Planner will provide assistant to the Assistant Manger, Grounds and Conversation with the following: Assists with the coding of timecards Assists in determining staff scheduling requirements of casual & part time staff on an as required basis. Organizing and preparing any additional resource requirements on an as-required basis to assist with the event set up/tear down process. Assists in the identification & creation of documented standard work procedures when/where necessary. Assists in developing strong teams within the business unit by providing feedback on staff work performance/output, to assist Assistant Manager in ongoing performance management of team members. A valid Heavy Equipment Operator Certification is considered an asset. Candidates without this certification must be willing to obtain it. 3 years of supervisory experience. 2 years of hands-on experience operating heavy equipment. 5 years of experience working in high-demand, fast-paced environments.   Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of job safe work site practices Possess a valid Class 5 Saskatchewan Driver’s license and a safe driver’s abstract.
