Your team’s dynamic: Reporting to the Customs and Compliance Manager, the Senior Compliance Specialist is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient global movement of goods while maintaining trade compliance. This role demands versatility, meticulous attention to detail, problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. The Senior Compliance Specialist will be required to communicate with suppliers, customers, governmental entities and internal teams, ensuring effective and empathetic communication to meet their specific needs. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the company’s adherence to global trade regulations, with emphasis on regulatory compliance activities rather than operational logistics. Your day at a glance: Interpret and apply U.S. and international export control regulations (e.g., EAR, EU Dual-Use Regulation) Classify products according to ECCNs, HTS codes, and determine dual-use status where applicable Maintain and manage valid Powers of Attorney (POAs) with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and other third parties Review and validate certificates of origin, including those under USMCA and other free trade agreements Analyze and apply rules of origin to ensure trade agreement compliance Advise internal stakeholders on export licensing, controlled goods, and regulatory risks Provide expert guidance and support internal teams — including Customer Service, Finance, and Sales — on customs and trade compliance matters Identify and mitigate potential risks related to customs regulations, export controls, and international trade compliance Develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures to ensure ongoing compliance with global customs regulations Stay current on global trade compliance developments and ensure Genetec maintains full compliance with evolving international trade regulations What makes you a great fit: Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) Certification Methodical and diligent with excellent decision-making skills Experience in a senior role in a multinational company Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English and French; proficiency in another language is an asset 7+ years of experience in international trade compliance Advanced knowledge of incoterms, HS classification, customs procedures, rules of origin Ability to manage multiple competing projects and meet deadlines Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross functional teams Excellent internal and external stakeholder management abilities Proficient in using the Microsoft Office Suite Ability to analyze regulatory texts and translate them into clear internal policies Fluent in French and English, both verbal and written (this role requires interaction with our international collaborators and customers) An asset if you have: Experience working in the technology industry Experience in ERP (Microsoft D365) an asset Additional Supply Chain Certifications (an asset) Familiarity with the unique compliance challenges and export classifications specific to the tech sector (e.g., ECCN 5A992, 5D002, etc.).
