Description

Volunteer Companion Wanted for Wheelchair Busking in Calgary Do you enjoy music, meeting people, and making a positive difference in someone’s day? I’m a licensed wheelchair busker in Calgary with a passion for singing and connecting with people through music. Busking isn’t just a hobby for me. It’s a way of bringing smiles, encouragement, and a little extra kindness into the world. Because of a mobility disability, I’m looking for a dependable volunteer companion who would enjoy joining me on occasional busking outings. What You Would Do * Help transport my wheelchair and a small amount of busking equipment. * Assist with setting up and packing up at busking locations. * Occasionally help push my wheelchair up ramps, moderate inclines, or over uneven surfaces. * Enjoy the music, conversation, and the unique experience of being part of Calgary’s busking community. What I’m Looking For * Someone who is physically strong and has the stamina to safely assist a heavy-set woman using a manual wheelchair, including pushing on ramps and moderate hills when necessary. * Honest, dependable, patient, and kind. * Comfortable interacting with people from all walks of life. * Willing to provide personal references, as trust and safety are very important to me. * Someone interested in building a genuine friendship over time. You do not need healthcare experience. I’m simply looking for someone who is physically capable, dependable, and enjoys helping others. About Me I love music, meaningful conversations, and making people feel welcome. One of my favourite sayings comes from the movie Avatar: “I see you.” To me, those words mean that every person deserves to be noticed, treated with dignity, and reminded that they matter. Through music, a smile, or a simple conversation, I hope to brighten someone’s day, even if it’s only for a few moments. Safety For both of our peace of mind, we’ll first meet in a public place to get to know one another. References will be requested before we begin busking together. Interested? If this sounds like something you’d enjoy, I’d love to hear from you. Please tell me a little about yourself, your interests, and why this opportunity appeals to you. If you’re another musician or busker, I’d especially love to hear from you! Who knows? We might not only make great music together, but also make a real difference in the lives of people we meet along the way.
