Find Peace With God

Life can bring many anxieties, especially in recent years. Things look grim, and many are without hope. But what if I told you that you can have a deep inner peace in the storms of life? People often look to the wrong things as a source of comfort. Addictions in the world are widespread; and countless lives have been broken because of people looking to things that only leave them feeling empty in the end. Where can we find true and lasting peace? Is it in more money, fame and recognition, success in a career, traveling the world and seeking adventure? Is it in finding the right person to spend our lives with, having children and retiring with good savings? These things are what we are told will fill our hearts completely... but the reality is, many have found these things and still are unsatisfied, and life is not what they pictured it would be. Even if we have family members and close friends who we love dearly (which are good things), we can still feel incomplete and not at peace. What if I told you that what you are seeking isn't a 'what' after all, but a 'Who'? Two thousand years ago a man named Jesus came and preached to others about the great love of God his Father. He told them how they should treat others, how to live in a broken world, how we should see those who are less fortunate and on the outskirts of society. He did great things and performed many miracles and healed countless. He taught of coming Judgement, but did not leave us condemned - instead he told us the Way we can find freedom from the sins that entangle us, and find forgiveness for all that we've done wrong in life. Jesus said, "For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him." (John 3:17) And also said, "Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." (John 14:6) Jesus is God come down to earth to relate with us and provide a way for us to be forgiven. Jesus is the true peace our hearts are looking for - a personal relationship with the Creator who gives great promises and comfort. Jesus said that whoever believes in him will have eternal life, which means that we have the guarantee in life that no matter what storms may come our way, we are promised that we will spend eternity in Paradise with God and other fellow children of God when we pass this life. Do you want this peace? It can be yours right this moment, you don't have to wait. Jesus once cried out, "If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’" (John 7:37-38). In order to have this peace, we must trust that Jesus died in our place, and took the wrath of God that we deserve upon himself. He never sinned, and thus death could not hold him or leave him condemned, and he rose to life victorious 3 days later. He now sits forever at the right hand of God the Father in Heaven. If you'd like to receive Christ, you could pray a prayer like the one below. Just remember, it's not saying the words themselves that saves you - it's trusting in Jesus. You can pray something like this: "Dear God, I'm a sinner. I'm sorry for my sins. I want to turn from my sins. I believe that Jesus Christ is your Son. I believe he died for my sin, and that you raised him to life. I want to trust him as my Savior, and follow him as Lord. From this day forward - Jesus, I put my trust in You, and I surrender my life to You. Please come into my life and fill me with your Holy Spirit. I ask this in the name of Jesus, Amen."
