Description

Please visit his GoFundMe page today. https://gofund.me/06f011ea3 Two years ago, Andrew was living the life he had spent years working toward. Today, he’s fighting for his health, his future, and the business he built from nothing. Andrew’s dream was simple: build a successful business, support his family, and give back to the community that supported him. In London, Ontario, he opened a small family-operated retail store just three months before COVID-19 changed the world. While many businesses struggled during the pandemic, Andrew worked tirelessly to keep his dream alive. Against all odds, the business didn’t just survive—it thrived. Within a year, he expanded and opened two additional locations in Sarnia and Waterloo. Andrew always believed a local business should support its community. Over the years he donated to schools, sports teams, and local fundraisers whenever he could. One of the traditions families looked forward to every year was his Halloween event. Children would come dressed in costumes and receive free candy while Andrew dressed as Willy Wonka to make the day magical for them. Even during COVID, when trick-or-treating was difficult, Andrew continued the tradition so families could still celebrate. For children who couldn’t attend, he personally delivered candy to their homes so no child would miss out. But life suddenly changed. Just over two years ago Andrew suffered a severe back injury that left him frequently immobile. Doctors later diagnosed spinal compression in his L4 and L5 vertebrae, causing severe sciatica and chronic pain. While he was struggling to recover, another devastating situation unfolded within the business. An internal investigation revealed over $20,000 missing from the store safe, along with fraudulent refunds and missing inventory. The store manager—who was also Andrew’s brother-in-law—was terminated. Police investigated, but without direct evidence the money was never recovered. The stress of the situation took an immediate toll. The very same day, Andrew experienced severe chest pain and was rushed to the hospital fearing a heart attack. After seven days of testing and observation, doctors diagnosed him with acute myocarditis, a dangerous inflammation of the heart muscle that can lead to heart failure or even sudden death. Nearly a year later, another frightening condition appeared. Without warning, Andrew began experiencing episodes involving shaking hands, blurred vision, confusion, memory loss, and seizure-like symptoms. After 13 episodes and multiple hospitalizations, doctors diagnosed him with Psychogenic Nonepileptic Seizures (PNES)—episodes triggered by severe psychological stress. Because these seizures can happen without warning, doctors were forced to medically suspend Andrew’s driver’s license, making it impossible for him to manage the business the way he once did. As his health declined and the financial pressure grew, Andrew was forced to close the Sarnia and Waterloo locations, leaving only the London store in a desperate attempt to keep the business alive. The once energetic entrepreneur who worked endlessly to build something for his family and community is now facing the hardest battle of his life. Today, Andrew is still fighting to recover while facing overwhelming medical expenses and financial pressure from trying to save the business he built from the ground up. Funds raised will help relieve some of that burden while allowing Andrew to seek specialized treatment for acute myocarditis and PNES in the United States and Europe. Andrew has spent years giving back to others whenever he could. Now, he needs the support of the community that once stood beside him. If Andrew has ever brought a smile to your family, supported your community, or if his story moved you in any way, please consider donating or sharing this page. Even the smallest act of support can help Andrew keep fighting and hold on to the dream he worked so hard to build. https://gofund.me/06f011ea3
