Canada’s Electric Vehicle Affordability Program

I am a wheelchair-using Canadian who is interested in buying an EV. KIA makes a wheelchair accessible EV. Your government is providing an incentive program for $5,000 for vehicles below the cost of $50,000. The only problem is, wheelchair accessible vehicles are more expensive than a standard vehicle. The KIA WAV costs between $60,000-$80,000 thus ineligible for the rebate. It is expensive to be in a wheelchair and being ineligible for this rebate is very unfair. I cannot get into a regular vehicle. Please be fair to ALL Canadians and carve out space for wheelchair users. This letter has been sent to politicians in Winnipeg and there has yet to be a response. Contact your representative to voice your concerns accessing this helpful program.
