I love Carmen's calm yet confident gaze. It has real atmosphere and these are getting very hard to find - especially in this good of a condition. The artist - Barbara Weber - was very much in fashion and loved the Spanish revival theme - which this painting is. It is named 'Carmen of the Opera'. Inspired by the scandalous Parisian Bizet opera of course. This one is quite large at 18.5\" x 26.5\" from frame edge to frame edge. It is printed on semi-gloss board that has a brush stoke pattern embossed within it, to give that extra look of a painted work. These were of course prints and this one is in wonderful condition, without loss of colour or scratches or nicks. As a side interest it still has the original price tag on the back from all those years ago - they bought it on sale - marked down to $3.00 from $3.75 (chuckle). The frame is original to the picture and has the most minimal of wear. It has an inner rich gold band that highlights Carmen's elegant gold satin gown.\r\n\r\nWe are in White Rock - right by the Semiahmoo Mall. We are a - no smoking - no pet - home.
