If you don't know where you're going, chances are you won't get there. For many aspiring writers, the initial attempt to complete a manuscript involves a sort of blind faith that if you keep typing you're going to magically end up at the conclusion. In my experience, successful storytelling doesn't quite work that way — especially if you're working on a book-length project. For the past 13 years, I've been shepherding writers through the literary creation process. It starts by deciding what you want to accomplish, followed by creating a roadmap about how to get there, and then you fill in the blanks one by one. Chapter by chapter. Essentially I end up riding shotgun on your writing journey, shouting out when you miss your turn or run a red light. I've mentored students working in a variety of genres, writing both fiction and non-fiction, and I custom-design my approach to each person who signs up with me.
