COURSE DESCRIPTIONS: PADDLE CANADA BASIC – (INTRO) $219 plus hst This is the Primary starting point of the Paddle Canada Level 1 Course, Specifically the Sea Kayak skills Progression. This class is fun, laid-back, and offers a positive, inclusive experience. We will incorporate games, group activities, and real-world scenarios as much as possible. If the aforementioned and the promise of terrible Dad jokes is appealing to you, you have found the place to sign up! In this course we will focus on the foundations, skills and knowledge used with Sea Kayaks. This course is meant to inspire students to tackle short & low risk paddling excursions. Upon completion of this course, students will be able to paddle confidently in calm sheltered waters while in the company of peers of similar ability. Rentals are Available for Vessels, and all needed Gear. You can either rent items as needed, or you can rent everything as a package. For this class, you will require all of the following: -Kayak -PFD -Pump -Whistle -15-Meter Floating Rope -Paddle -Sunscreen (recommended) -Lunch- Can bring own or we we have fresh baked muffins/cookies, protein bars, fresh fruit, bagels, chips/bars, ice cream, hot and cold beverages ad more! *Bring spare clothes and a towel, plus bag to carry wet clothing home. During this class, you will: Cover proper paddling techniques. Learn how to balance yourself. Exit a tipped Kayak. Get wet. Have fun! Make friends similar to your skill level. The course will run rain or shine. We will postpone in the case of prolonged thunderstorms. 2) PADDLE CANADA LEVEL 1 Course $299 per person. Daily Kayak and equipment rental rate $60 per person includes all required gear (optional if you have all required gear listed below) This two-day introductory kayaking lesson is perfect for individuals who are new to kayaking and wish to learn the necessary skills to plan and embark on their own day trips in Level 1 conditions. By the end of this course, you will gain an understanding of the fundamentals of sea kayaking, have control over your kayak in level 1 conditions, and learn essential paddling techniques such as forward and backward strokes, bracing, edging, and turning. Additionally, you will learn how to safely recover in the event of a capsize, including wet exit and various re-entry techniques, both self and assisted. For this class, you will require the following. Please note All items including kayak can be rented as a package for $60 per day ($120 for 2-day course) -A sea kayak with two bulkheads. -A pump, a whistle, and a 15-meter floating rope -A PFD is mandatory -A paddle. -Sunscreen (recommended) -Lunch/water (we also have fresh baked muffins/cookies, coffee, tea and snacks, cold drinks available on weekends) During this class, you will: -Get wet. Please bring spare clothes and a towel. Cotton is not recommended. Water wear is preferred. -Have fun. -Make friends We will incorporate games, group activities and drills to learn the topics. You will meet a group of kayakers similar to you at the same point in their development. UPON COMPLETION OF THIS COURSE YOU WILL RECEIVE: A Paddle Canada Level 1 Sea Kayak Skills Certificate. The course will run rain or shine. We will postpone in the case of prolonged thunderstorms. This class is fun, laid-back, and offers a positive, inclusive experience. We will incorporate games, group activities, and real-world scenarios as much as possible. We will only put you on the spot if you want to be, such as volunteering to demonstrate in front of the class. No pressure!
