Project - SHARE (Sharing Canadian Expertise for Inclusive Development and Gender Equality) Cuso International will implement the SHARE (Sharing Canadian Expertise for Inclusive Development and Gender Equality) project, funded by Global Affairs Canada (GAC), over a seven-year period. SHARE aims to improve the economic and social well-being of the poorest, most marginalized, and most vulnerable people, particularly women and girls in developing countries, contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In addition to strengthening Canadians' engagement in international development and key global issues, this project aims to improve partner countries' performance in promoting innovative and more inclusive sustainable environmental development, advancing gender equality by implementing action areas of Canada's Feminist International Assistance Policy. Benefits Terms and Conditions Cuso International's conditions allow you to maintain a modest and healthy lifestyle, similar to the local standard of living. Cuso International's support helps cover a volunteer-cooperator's basic living expenses but is not intended to cover domestic expenses (e.g., mortgage, student loans, school fees, etc.) or luxury items such as importing goods from elsewhere, personal international travel, etc. Support Package Modest monthly living allowance Accommodation during placement Medical insurance (including cost of required vaccines and antimalarial medication) Round-trip airfare and visa/work permit fees Pre-departure training, in-country orientation, and reintegration day upon return Support during your placement through Cuso International's national program offices and local partners throughout your assignment Access to the Employee Assistance Program during and after your placement Support to achieve your fundraising goals Bonus: Volunteer-cooperators who extend for an additional 6 months after completing 12 months of service are entitled to an additional round-trip ticket or cash payment. Selection Conditions Please note that if you are pre-selected for placement, you will need to: Confirm your passport or permanent resident status details for travel purposes Provide 2 professional references and 1 personal reference Complete a language assessment during the preliminary phone interview in the language required for your placement Obtain a satisfactory police certificate Pass a comprehensive medical examination and receive clearance before departure Due to the COVID-19 situation, be fully vaccinated according to vaccines approved by the World Health Organization Pre-Placement Training - Skills and Knowledge for Working in Development (SKWID) Program We are committed to helping you best prepare for your placement. A volunteer-cooperator mobilization advisor will support you throughout the process, and you will participate in pre-departure training as part of your preparation. You will also have access to self-directed information materials, online training, and external resources through the volunteer-cooperator portal. This training is designed to maximize your understanding of your placement and culture, help you identify and plan your learning, and support your safety and well-being during your placement. Protection Against Sexual Exploitation and Abuse Cuso International works with poor, vulnerable, and marginalized populations, primarily women and girls, to eliminate poverty and inequalities. We understand the necessity of upholding and reinforcing the highest standards of ethical and professional conduct. Residence and Citizenship During the application and placement phases, most Cuso International candidates are based in Canada, although we also accept applications from abroad. Regardless of your place of residence, it is essential to maintain easy and prompt communication from the date of your application to your departure date. We may ask for your passport, need to know your current place of residence, and require information about your travel plans. Leaving your country of residence may affect your citizenship status. If you leave your place of residence for a placement, you are responsible for seeking information on implications from local immigration authorities. By applying, you accept full responsibility for any consequences regarding your citizenship, residence, or immigrant status. Canadian permanent residents must make arrangements with immigration authorities before traveling to avoid jeopardizing their resident status.
