Low cost Helper Needed: Hands-On Van Build & Mechanical
Description
Volunteer / Low-Cost Helper Needed: Hands-On Van Build & Mechanical Help (GTHA) Greetings! I am taking proactive steps to transition into living full-time in a cargo van to establish a stable, affordable base. Doing this mainly because of the outrageous astronomical housing costs! Yes, that's correct. Myself, like many, can't afford a place to live in a house like we used to do 40 years ago. I have acquired a solid vehicle, but I need a knowledgeable helper—whether you are a seasoned DIYer, a handy neighbor, a retired person, a car enthusiast, or an apprentice mechanic—to assist me with a few mechanical and build tasks. Location & Mobility: I can drive to your location anywhere within the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and Hamilton area if you have a driveway or workspace to tinker in. What We Will Be Working On: Mechanical & Diagnostics: Basic vehicle maintenance, physical checks, and minor hands-on fixes (I have my own Innova OBD reader to scan for fault codes). Off-Grid Electrical / Wiring: Assisting with simple 12V wiring, connections, and setting up basic components. Build & Insulation: Fitting and securing insulation inside the cargo area to get the space insulated and prepped. Compensation & Reciprocity: Because I am working within a tight budget, I cannot pay standard shop or contractor rates. However, I am more than happy to: Provide lunch and coffee/drinks while we work. Cover a token amount to help offset your gas or supply costs. Trade skills and return the favor down the road with tech support, IT/website help, DIY labor, health help, moving assistance, or other hands-on projects! If you enjoy working on vehicles, van conversions, or electrical projects and want to help someone build a solid foundation for self-sufficiency, I would be incredibly grateful for your time and expertise. Please reply to this ad or send me a text with your general location, availability, and any relevant hands-on experience Thank you!
